I have a Kentucky KM-600 SN 84.7.53. I believe this means it was the 53rd instrument built in July of 1984. That means it was built in Japan. Production moved to Korea sometime in th 1990s (haven't been able to figure out when) and to China in 2001. I have had two Japan-made KM-500s, and the only structural difference seems to be that the headstock is bound on the 600. However, the big difference is that the 600 sounds great; close to my '96 Gibson A-5L. Back in the late 80s and early 90s, in catologues like Elderly Instruments, the 500 was the top of the line A model. I wasn't even aware that they made a KM-600 until I found this one. I believe that in later years, Kentucky made a KM-600, but it was their lower end F-style. Does anyone know anything more about this model.
