My wife decided to take up the mandolin and a friend saw this one and thinks it is vintage but not buying until I know what it is.
I am clueless on mandolins, banjos ask away, mandos ya still clueless.

No unfortunately, it is on consignment and the owner is clueless apparently. No label on the inside. I'm thinking the top has been refinished in the green as the back looks correct. Thanks for the questions.

Maybe an independent builder? Even the Asian imports would have some label or headstock logo. I like the green finish though. I once had a Ludewig that was blue and really wish I had hung onto that one.

Obviously an independent builder... and he/she used an excellent piece for the book-matched back!
Looks like they may have attempted to copy (to a degree) the Monteleone scroll?
