Just have to tell you all I took my mandolin into Cumberland Acoustics, had them do a set up and change my bridge to one of theirs. Wow what a sound difference, if you are looking for better sound that is sustained this is the bridge you need. Great people to deal with as well, they are in Hendersonville TN.

I have heard good things about the CA bridges. Given that this is the only link between string vibration and top vibration, a good, well-fitted one should have a huge influence on sound. What is the difference between their bridge and others? It looks like a pretty standard Loar-style bridge on their website.

My mandolin has had a CA bridge from the beginning, so there's no way to compare to 'before.' Still, I did have it set up again recently after 9-10 years on solid playing. The intonation was shot above the ~5th fret. Having a set up done was like night and day.

From their website: “ebony mandolin bridge, designed to tight Loar Specifications. They include accurate string compensation and small thumbwheels with proper knurl and edge radius.” Steve also told us that originally they were designed for Gibson by him to be as close as possible to the Lloyd Loar bridge. They also shave the bridge down to match the curvature of the mandolin top (as slight miss-alignment will alter effectiveness) The sound is night and day from the bridge that was on my Loar
