I got my bf an A-style mando, he already plays guitar and wanted a new challenge.
I got him a blue moon electroacoustic which he really likes but he tunes it up and when he presses the strings down it goes out of tune - can anyone help please?

If I understand the situation correctly, it sounds like either a tuner is slipping, or the string itself is slipping. If the former, tighten screw or get new tuners. If the latter, wrap the string around the tuner post more times.

Wiggle the tuner while bringing the string up to pitch. This up and down pitch wiggling helps load up the tuning machine capstan tighter than just twisting the machine in one direction to acheive pitch.

Is the string itself out of tune after he presses on the string?

Or out of tune only as he is pressing down on it?

So, I'm guessing one of two things were "sorted out"?

1. The issue with the mando has been fixed. Perhaps you could let us know what it was?

2. You ditched the mando and the boyfriend?
