I'm wondering about tremolo parts that are in introductions of a lot of classic bluegrass songs. Listening to a lot of Monroe and Wakefield tremolos, it sounds like a lot of their tremolo changes are between using the 3rds and 5ths. I use a G bluegrass intro form below to describe what I play when I'm figuring out these changes.
E ---3-----7------------------------------
A ---2-----5-----3------5------2--------
D ----------------2------4------5--------
G -----------------------------------------
When I play it, it sounds like it is missing a lot of the 5ths. I tried this form today and I think it's closer to what I'm hearing in Monroe's and Wakefield's playing.
E ---3-----7------------------------------
A ---5-----10-----3------5------2--------
D ------------------5------7------5--------
G -----------------------------------------
Thoughts?

Hello there.
I am not so musically versed on thirds and fifths, but I tried both of your forms, and like the sound of the latter form a bit better.

You will find that parallel 5ths give a lot of drive to the music. Listen to Benny Martin's fiddle intro to Flatt and Scruggs Someone Took My Place With You.
