Hi There
I'm new to Mandolins but I do play guitar/ ukelele.
I want to know if anyone else has had a problem with both the E strings unwinding at the loop. I bought new strings and while I was tuning the first E unwound its self. Two days later the second E went.
I didn't over tighten

Hello and welcome.
It may be the brand you have. FWIW, D'Addario J74 strings should not do that, unless there is an issue with your instrument. Purchase those. If that's what you purchased, then contact D'Addario.

Yes, this has been reported by others in past years. Here is the last post I can recall.

Basically two topics get talked about. One is faulty or counterfeit string sets. The second has to do with tailpiece design and usage.
I have never experienced this in four decades plus of playing multiple mandolins.

There was a problem with D'Addario strings in the past doing that. A friend bought a package of ten or 12 sets and ended up contacting D'Addario about the D'Addario J74 strings. But that was several years ago, so it could be a bad batch of strings, or as someone else said, counterfeit strings especially if you got them from eBay or Amazon.
