Would like to jam while on holiday

From IsolaMandolins on 5/2/2011 10:31:09 AM

Greetings ,

I'm a Yank from Washington state and will be on a 2 week holiday starting July 1. I'm a bluegrass-old time-contra fiddle and mandolin player . I'd like to meet , socialize and jam as much as possible while I'm visiting as a tourist.

Here in the Northwest we play a mix (but not limited to)  Bill Monroe , David Grisman, Bruce Molsky,Reyna Gellert, Foghorn Stringband and tunes from the Portland Collection of Contra tunes. I'm open to playing just about anything, including Western Swing and jazz standards.

I'm will be staying in London near St Pauls Cathedral for the first 5 days. The following 9 days are still unplanned. I won't have a car, so my destination(s) should be reachable by train, bus or a reasonable walk.

Thanks - Jim

Hi Jim, I wish I could invite you to a session but London is a bit far, your best bet is to post the above onto the UK Bluegrass website forum - ukbluegrass.com/

Typical that someone would only spot this when you're probably out of touch. Still if you've got mobile internet access then hopefully this will get to you.
There's a London based picking session at
THE FORESTERS [ALL INN ONE], 53 Perry Vale, Forest Hill SE23 2NE 20:00 and start playing around 20:30

(I never make it as I work shifts when in Loonydom) Hope the trip goes well & you manage to sell the Mandolin too.

Jim made it down to Wiltshire last night and played at our session at Badminton, That little Isola A up there on the right, made by Jim himself is a very pretty thing and sounds great. We played some grass some jazz some blues and and Jim is a hot picker on mando and guitar. Good to meet you Jim, safe journey and come back anytime.
