Well, I am playing almost daily now- I take my mandolin or banjo to work everyday and play during my lunch break. Overtime, this should help me get better!!
I just received my latest and most expensive instrument I have ever bought. I purchased from ELDERLY INSTRUMENTS (the BEST music store in the Midwest) a WEBER Gallatin F 5. Mahogany neck, back and sides with sitka spruce top, clear satin finish. Beautiful!! the best part is the SOUND!! WOW- my old MK Legacy cannot even compare to the sound the Weber makes. The Weber just RINGS out the notes and the sound box even echoes regular sounds. Each note I pick is so clear and bright and carries for the longest time. I am humbled to have such a fine instrument. I never thought I would ever own a clear sounding instrument or such a Step up in mandolins.
I am using the downloadable lessons via Elderly to practice and learn - I am enjoying Mike Marshall and Sam Bush as teachers. I love the split screen method to learn- far better than just listening to CD's and trying to guess what the methods look like. Being able to slow the playing down and actually see what and how they are playing is GREAT!! Plus- No DVD's to get scratched or lost.
I really look forward to playing now- a great instrument and awesome resources!! Wish me luck!!

Living in Michigan, not far from Elderly Instruments. Been Playing banjo for almost 30 years, playing mandolin for about 4 years. I love various styles of music- classical, jazz, blues, bluegrass, new grass, Irish. I prefer instrumental over lyrical, unless the words really jam. I am 51, starting a new career as a teacher of science and the outdoors.
