Alvarez Mandolin

Sunday, March 3, 2013

I recently bought an Alvarez mandolin from a friend and am now wondering exactly when it was made and the model. There is no label or markings to identify it. The closest I have come to identifying it is by looking at pictures on-line. It has a gold tailpiece. The tailpiece is silver on most of them, so maybe that is the identifying factor. It has these features:

  • Body style: F style
  • Back/sides: solid flamed maple
  • Top: solid spruce
  • Fingerboard: ebony
  • Fingerboard inlay: "tree of life"
  • Bridge: rosewood
  • Tuning machines: gold

Can anyone tell me what model you think it is and when it might have been made? I posted pictures on my photo page.
