Although the 5-string banjo is my main instrument, I have fooled with the mandolin since the late 1970s. My playing in bluegrass bands over the last 40+ years has pretty much been confined to banjo, but recently I have been working a bit on the mandolin. I love the mandolin's sound, feel, and curvy looks. Plus it is a lot easier than a banjo to carry around in airports.
