Begin playing guitar in 1965, then banjo & mandolin in the same year. 1968-1978 played with Jimmy Haley and Louis Pyrtle { Lou Reid} in differant bands, have been in some world champion bands. Won 1st place mandolin at Union Grove, N.C. in 1971. among other awards. Took me 41 years until I could afford a Gibson mandolin, up until then only owned one goodun' built by Bob Shue, had the 3rd or 4th mandolin built by Dean Clawson from 1969-'72. Have a Gibson F5 Jam-Master 10th in the series & a A9 Gibson, both outstanding mandolins.
