I like so many bands and musicians, that I feel it would be impossible to even start listing them here. Maybe as threads come up (and if I decide to be a non-lurker), I'll mention who I like in the context of the thread.

I play a few different instruments (banjo, guitar, mandolin, some fiddle, electric bass, and some others that I don't play often enough to list here), and like playing bluegrass, jazz, blues, country, etc. I'm playing mandolin in some local Portland area bands, doubling on fiddle with some of them, and also playing banjo with some area bands, and some jazz guitar with a "hard-bop" Hammond organ quintet. I've never really focused a lot on mandolin (being mainly a banjo player for years), but have picked it up as a second instrument so I'm fairly comfortable playing bluegrass on it, and can improvise in some other styles too, though I'm not entirely comfortable playing lots of "jazz" chords, unless I've been woodshedding for a while (and then I can remind myself of where they were hiding).
