Evening Sky
I keep a close watch
on the evening sky;
and there’s this one star
I can’t identify.
who is it shining for;
what does it signify;
is it a beacon calling out
to where I lie?
what is the reason
what should I believe?
is this a sign that I see?
I had a friend one time
who up and left one night;
I never I saw her again,
she disappeared from sight.
is it the gypsy’s soul
in the heaven that glows;
or a mystery
that I will never know?
what is the reason
was I deceived
is this the friend that I see?
