If you want to notify someone that they have a reply to their question you can use the jhfiddler and not have to quote anything, just post your reply.
Be sure to use the "@" before the username. It should then bring up a tiny window highlighted in yellow with that username, click on that and it will show up as gray. That will notify the user he has a message. Look on the right side of the page and find "notifications". There should be a message under it for the person you want to notify. I presume this is active on this site as it is on the Banjohangout. If not...
.... just type your text under the text you're replying to and, if the person is keeping up with his or her threads, they will check and find your post.
