Big Muddy v Mid Missouri Mandolins: Different or identical?
The over all design is the same. Construction techniques and materials have changed. Around 1999 the one piece Mahogany neck was replaced with 3 pieces, (a scarfed peg head and glued on heel). Around 2005 the solid steel neck reinforcement with replaced with hollow tubing. Mid Mo's were finished with Behlen Master Gel, Big Muddy's finish has been Qualasole. There are other differences as well.
