Hello there, how cool with a girls group! I'm just now looking for new tunes to learn and new STUFF to learn generally. I may dig into Big Mon, or Bluegrass stomp again, and will work further on Big Scioty. And will definitely learn some new songs, and learn to back myself on the mandolin with other than bluegrass chops, like for ballads and the likes.

I am new to the mandolin and am learning my 3rd song. I am, however, still working on all three. The first one is a song my brother wrote for a six year-old fiddle student of his. She had gotten a new pair of shoes when she came to lessons and was so proud of them. He wrote a song for her and called it New Shoes for LuLu. That was my first one. I asked him to teach me Seven Spanish Angels and that was my second one. I then asked for the old Marty Robbins tune El Paso, so that is what I am working on at present. My brother is my teacher and I have been very happy with my lessons so far. I am working on how to pick the strings up and down rather than down down down like on the guitar and also working on theory. What is everyone else working on? I think I am going to ask him for a fiddle tune next.
