Dan Norton has been playing music for as long as he can remember. He started out on an old acoustic Guitar before discovering he had a talent for brass instruments. After many years of performing in brass bands, ensembles and orchestras he returned to strings in 1997 as a Bass Guitarist in a Rock band. This led to picking up the Guitar again which, in a convoluted turn of events, took him to the Mandolin which he instantly developed a passion for. Dan was invited to join the five time BCMA award winning 'Down County Boys' almost as soon as he picked up the instrument and has since enjoyed playing and singing with some of the finest Bluegrass musicians around. Today he continues to play with the 'Down County Boys' and also with the duo 'Salmagundi' as well as sessioning with bands and solo artists all over the country.Dan is also an accomplished and highly acclaimed teacher of Guitar and Mandolin. Singing both lead and tenor vocal lines Dan also plays a crucial role in  the vocal arrangements of the band and his playing has a truly authentic  sound; his feel for the music is virtually unparalleled on the British and European Bluegrass scene.
