Wanted to play something, but my orthodontist nixed the trumpet. My father suggested mando, which he dabbled in when he was young. Got some sort of classical training until the Folk Music Revival happened, and I wanted a 5-string. Focused on that over the decades, but I've come back to mandolin because it doesn't involve my postally-damaged shoulders. I now play fiddle-double (or so I'd like to think) mandolin. I've developed a mando-centered tablature that's more compact than standard notation or ABC.
